Veterans Program

So last Wed. night Will had a Patriotic singing program at school. At first I was really annoyed because it was the same night as Relief Society and I really wanted to go to that. But once I was there and the kids starting singing and giving talks about America and paying tribute to the people who defended our Country I was SO glad that I went. I always feel a special spirit whenever we talk about the history of this great Country. I am so grateful for all the people before be who fought so hard so that we can live the way that we do today.

It was interesting one of the talks was about James and Dolly Madison. And during the war how James just had the desire to go out and fight with his troops and left Dolly at the White House and instructed her to grab everything that she thought was important and leave. Of course she grabbed the Declaration of Independence and left right before the White House burned down and didn't meet up with James until three days later. But seriously what president today would feel the need to be out there with his troops fighting with them.

O.k. anyways even though the program was really good it was REALLY long. Will's class sang two songs and then the whole k-2nd grade sang the last song. At this point it 8:00 p.m. and they have been sitting there for almost two hours. So they were restless to say the least. Will's teacher said that two kids fell asleep during school the next day.

This video is Will singing the last song. It is short. It was supposed to be serious but he sang it like a rock star (literally!). The video isn't great cause the dumb lady in front of me kept getting in my way (through the whole program too she kept standing up and taking pictures, she was on the front row!) and he is behind a lot of kids. But you can still see him.
